Robert C. Named State Bird

CHARLESTON – Legislation in West Virginia introduces a new state bird, the Robert C.

The Robert C. is indigenous to the hills of Appalachia and although not widely loved, it can be seen almost anywhere. You can spot it by the little white "hood" atop its head, mounted on a white coat of feathers.

The Robert C. is a mocking bird of sorts. Known for repeating offensive slang, this may be a bird you want to avoid.

While residents are still unsure why such a nasty creature has been given this kind of honor. Bird experts predict that these very, very old birds will soon begin to pass away and eventually go extinct.
