RAVENSWOOD — West Virginia’s state song, John Denver’s “Country Roads”, will be undergoing construction later this month. Officials are reportedly saying “it will take as long as it takes.” There is no timeline for completion.
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, who has been a champion of infrastructure spending, told Ramp reporters, “We all know the song is dated. Yes, the production quality was great for the time, but the bridge will need to undergo some major remodeling.”
In the meantime, residents are being urged to use “Blue Ridge Mountain Song” by Alan Jackson or “literally any song by Tyler Childers, even though he’s technically from Kentucky,” Moore says.
West Virginia University will have the most difficult time adjusting to the construction, as drunkenly screaming “Country Roads” in the face of a stranger’s child on game day is considered a birth rite.
