HUNTINGTON – A successful Huntington Music & Arts Festival took place this weekend -- a showcase of local musicians, artists, and food. But the highlight of the day was when drummer, Jeffrey McClelland, played a total of 25 sets, back-to-back, breaking the record for longest consecutive sets drummed.
After over 10 hours of constant drumming, McClelland came off stage and could have probably broken the record for sweatiest butt crack. He was drenched. We reached out to the man of the several hours, but he was unable to make the time for us because he “had to go sound check at the after party and get ready for a series of shows tomorrow.”
By the time that McClelland closed out the night with John R. Miller, his tempo was Larghissimo as fuck – we’re talking, like, 20 BPMs. You could tell that Miller was having a difficult time keeping down with the utterly sedated beats of the exhausted McClelland. The pacing was so slow, in fact, that Miller was only able to play one song during his set.
As it turns out, the “Chopped and Screwed” version of Miller’s set was a hit, because the entirety of the crowd was zonked on “Purple Drank” or “Lean” – a cocktail most recently popularized by rapper, Lil Wayne, which is a combination of promethazine and codeine.
If anyone has seen or heard from Jeffrey McClelland, please let us know. He pushed himself too far, and we just hope that he was appropriately hydrating. It’s possible that he could oversleep and miss all seven of his gigs booked for today. We’ve been trying to call him all day.
