Black Sheep Renames Open Mic Night "Weekly Feathered Indians Competition"

HUNTINGTON — Black Sheep Burritos and Brews will be bringing back their weekly open mic nights for local musicians who exclusively play covers of “Feathered Indians” written and performed by the tri-state’s very own country music star, Tyler Childers.

In the spirit of tradition, the open mic night will be renamed "The Weekly Feathered Indians Competition.” Where local amateurs can flex on each other and play that one song that everyone knows.

We talked to Black Sheep Stage music manager, Tyler Cooper, who said “we get three or four guys playing the song weekly anyways, so why not make a game of it?”

Black Sheep patrons and open mic participants are looking forward to the new event. Tens of people have already signed up for the first week.

“The intro riff is really fun to play, and the song is almost in my vocal range” local musician, Dusty Lambert, says. “I’m a little nervous, but it doesn’t really matter with how many different people consecutively play the same song back-to-back-to-back.”

The winner receives a free order of chips and their choice of salsa: Black Bean & Corn, Fire Roasted Tomato, or Pico de Gallo.

Ramp reporters confirmed that while the song certainly slaps, these losers need to curate new set lists. Maybe something from Childers’ newest album.
